What FACET does

Mission

Foods of Africa & the Caribbean Educational Trust’s (FACET) mission is to inspire a diverse community through education.

FACET Purpose and Aims

We use Food, central to life and family time, inspired by Africa and its diasporas including the Caribbean, as Educational resources for all people, teachers, and parents. Our work as a registered Charitable Trust includes collaboration with community and faith groups; health, schools and other public sector to address issues of social, nutritional and educational inequalities.

Partner with us each month to ensure that food, catering and hospitality are sources of social and educational enhancement for:

  • 30 of pupils in primary education who are most disaffected
  • 30 young people to train in culinary skills, leading to sustainable jobs
  • 30 families to be set free from generational poverty

Our vision is for each person to continuously enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence on a day by day basis, thus transforming their life chances.

Customer/Stakeholder satisfaction

FACET is committed to working with ‘interest groups’ and ‘public sector groups’ to build and maintain relevant initiatives which benefit all marginalised people and age groups, irrespective of race and gender. What interests each group has in both educational products and service are continuously monitored and improved under ‘general needs’ and ‘specific needs’ of customers.

The limited evidence of effectiveness of intervention programmes has been monitored by community partners, teachers and academics and assessment reports produced.

We spread the good practice needed to achieve these ends by sharing our knowledge with partners, and to create ‘next step’ opportunities for a range of beneficiaries we target.

Our professional associates

We have the support of many senior trainers with experience in all areas of food studies and hospitality sectors. This ensures that our training is practical, relevant and applicable in real settings.  Our trainers work closely with educational bodies to make sure they are up-to-date with the latest syllabus.
